UCSD Neurosurgeon accused of using marijuana while on the job

A University of California, San Diego neurosurgeon has been accused by the Medical Board of California of using marijuana while practicing medicine. 

A complaint has been filed against Dr. Gunjan Goel and alleges that she used marijuana 'daily, while at work, and on call', according to court documents. 

Goel admitted to consuming marijuana sometimes on her days off when she was approached in January 2015 by a state investigator in the parking lot of her apartment complex.

The Medical Board of California said they first received a complaint about Goel in May 2014, according to NBC San Diego

Goel admitted in a follow-up interview with an investigator that she had used marijuana on three to four different occasions between the months of July and December 2014. 

The Medical Board of California is accusing Goel, who does not have a medical marijuana card, of 'repeatedly' possessing marijuana and engaging in unprofessional conduct.

A UC San Diego representative declined to give NBC a comment, saying it is still being treated as just an accusation.
