A Tardis-like seaside home that could be Britain's most luxurious 'beach hut' has gone on the market for £525,000.

Cleverly designed to look like a humble seaside shack from the outside, the house actually boasts three bedrooms, an open plan kitchen and living area, a shingle garden and private sun terrace split over two floors.

And as its name implies, Sea Breeze is just a stone's throw from the beach in one of the most sought-after locations in the country.

The bright-yellow wooden home in quaint Gurnard near the sailing Mecca of Cowes on the Isle of Wight is the brainchild of edgy modern architects Manser Practice.

The village is famed for its colourful beach huts that line the shores of the Solent and Sea Breeze was designed to capture the seaside feel while still being big enough to live in complete comfort.

Made entirely from birch marine plywood, the upper floor is home to the kitchen, dining area, seating area and a separate utility room and bathroom.

It also leads out onto the sun terrace, which is easily big enough to accommodate a dining table for alfresco eating and summer barbecues.

Downstairs are three bedrooms, a bathroom and a private garden, reached via a spiral staircase.

Sea Breeze was built in 2004 when the original owner knocked down a dilapidated bungalow and replaced it with the beach-hut inspired property.

Lisa Fleming bought Sea Breeze with her husband and three sons in 2009 after spotting it in an advert and falling in love with it.

The family have now put it on the market after moving to a bigger property nearby.

Sea Breeze is on the market with The Modern House estate agents for £525,000.

Mrs Fleming said: 'Originally there was tumbledown cottage on the site which was knocked down in 2004.

'The original owner brought in Manser Practice to design a modern beach house that captured the seaside feel of Gurnard.

'We had actually seen it was for sale but discounted it initially as we thought it would be too small for our family.

'But we then spotted it in an advert and realised it was spread over two floors.'

She continued: 'We went to visit it and fell in love with it straight away. The beauty of Sea Breeze is that it might look small but it is like a Tardis inside with three bedrooms, a kitchen and a big living area.

'It has a wonderful terrace and is a stone's throw from the sea.

'The interiors are all made from marine ply and it has this wonderful old-fashioned seaside feel despite actually being very modern.

'It is with heavy heart that we have decided to sell it because we have moved to a larger house nearby.'
