Not a hair out of place! Hugh Jackman's coiffed locks are immovable as he executes the coin toss and a cheeky ball bounce before AFL match

He's been known to sport a variety of hair 'dos in his time - from flowing locks to a mullet and back to bald again.

And Hugh Jackman's locks didn't disappoint on Friday night with his perfectly styled hair seeming to defy nature - and prove immovable - as he kicked off an AFL match in Melbourne.

The Australian actor's slick cut was the talk of the commentary box with the Australian Football League jokingly tweeted, 'An old-fashioned battle of the hair between @RealHughJackman and @tcotchin9 at the coin toss #AFLTigersNorth.

'Can't go wrong with Wolverine on the field,' one fan joked back in response.

The 46-year-old star was pictured shaking hands with Richmond Tigers captain Trent Cochin prior to their game against the North Melbourne Kangaroos in round 23, when their similar hairstyles caught the eye.

And it was an apparent battle of the hair as both men sported similar voluminous styles that had been perfectly slicked over to the side.

The 46-year-old star, who is busy promoting Pan and his upcoming Broadway To Oz theatre show, certainly got into the spirit of the game, as he took on the official duties of coin toss to kick off the match at Etihad Stadium.

Hugh also shook hands with North Melbourne player Jack Ziebell before his team went on to be defeated by 41 points.

Prior to the match cheeky Hugh, who is a Port Adelaide supporter, bounced the ball in the centre square to the surprise of umpires prior to the game – something that is normally only executed by Australian Rules Football umpires.

However, the act appeared to be taken in good spirits as umpire Dean Margetts shared a laugh with Hugh after his mischievous antics.

After carrying out his official duties, Hugh was then invited to watch the game from the best seats in the house - the commentators box.

Boasting on Instagram, Hugh shared a shot with his more than 3.1 million followers as he cuddled around commentators Cameron Ling, Wayne Carey and Matthew Richardson.

'Thanks for letting me sit in,' he captioned the shot.

Enjoying time back in his home country, Hugh made a big announcement last week.

Appearing at The Four Seasons Hotel, the movie star expressed his excitement about bringing his show Broadway To Oz to arenas in November and December.

He kicked off the conference by walking into the room belting out I Still Call Australia Home, with the help of a backup choir.

'In November and December this year, 2015, myself and 150 musicians, singers, dancers choir, are going to be touring the major cities of Australia in an arena spectacular and I am beyond excited about it,' Hugh told reporters.

'I'm super, super excited to take it around,' he added. 'It's pretty much all about me, everything I love.'

The Tony Award-winner's show, he says, aims to entertain kids and adults alike.

'It's a family show,' he said. 'I want everyone to come, to have fun to feel relaxed. I want everyone to have a blast.

'I'm sure there will be a few husbands dragged along. And I'll buy them all a beer after the show.'

Hugh, who has appeared in stage shows including The Boy From Oz and Les Miserables, said his production includes his all-time favourite tunes.

'It's every song that I love from every show,' he said, adding that he'll also belt out tunes from musicals he 'wanted to be in' or will be in one day, showing his passion for the art form.

'Some guys sort of say to their wives, 'You know, I want to go golfing with my buddies'', he joked.

'I say to Deb, 'Can I go and do my show, is that OK?'

The actor also revealed that his family -including wife Deborra-Lee Furness, 59, who attended the conference, and children Oscar and Ava - will be joining him in Australia.

'We're thrilled to always find any excuse to come here and be with our extended family down here too,' Deborra-Lee said.

The tour begins in Melbourne on November 24, at Rod Laver Arena before heading to Sydney's Qantas Credit Union Arena on November 30, with other dates planned.

Shows will also continue in Brisbane, Adelaide, and Perth.
