Thousands of exhausted migrants make it to the promised land: 5,000 refugees arrive in

Thousands of exhausted migrants who have travelled thousands of miles from their war-torn homes finally reached Austria and Germany. They were trapped in Hungary for two days after the authorities refused to let them board international trains. But the country changed course to ease the 'overwhelming' number of migrants building up there - and sent hundreds of buses to ferry them to the Austrian border. More than 4,500 arrived in the country today and another 450 boarded yet another train to reach Munich, Germany, where they could finally relax. Many of the refugees to arrive in the two nations are believed to be Syrian refugees. Most of the four million people to flee the country's civil war and the ISIS terror group live in Middle Eastern refugee camps but they are now arriving in Europe in record numbers. Chancellor George Osborne today said the world must tackle the 'evil regime' of Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad and the ISIS terror group to solve the migrant crisis gripping Europe.

The information is included in the 'plan your visit' section of the Flamingo Land website, as well as in the frequently asked questions, but Mrs Bowen-Jones - who was wearing the purple carer's wrist band but did not want to go on the rides - believes it is not obvious where to look for it.

Indestructible 'water bear' bug that can survive in space could revolutionise computing

Water bear (Macrobiotus sapiens) in moss. Color enhanced scanning electron micrograph (SEM) of a water bear in its active state. Water bears (or tardigrades) are tiny invertebrates that live in aquatic and semi-aquatic habitats such as lichen and damp moss. They require water to obtain oxygen by gas exchange. In dry conditions, they can enter a cryptobiotic state of desiccation, known as a tun, to survive. In this state, water bears can survive for up to a decade. This species was found in moss samples from Croatia. It feeds on plant and animal cells. Water bears are found throughout the world, including regions of extreme temperature, such as hot springs, and extreme pressure, such as deep underwater. They can also survive high levels of radiation and the vacuum of space. Magnification: x250 when printed 10cm wide.

Water bears, or tardigrades, have a remarkable ability to withstand extremes. Researchers studying them have created a new type of 'superglass' that could change computing.
