DCDuring. Most active as admin at English Wiktionary. We constantly need to attest to usage in a wide range of subject areas. One of our particular weaknesses is in coverage of terms used in contemporary workplace, especially other than computing. That in turn is partially attributable to lack of access to trade press, not well covered at Google or other free sources. English Wiktionary is an important resource for other wiktionaries. Jeremy112233 (talk · contribs). English Wikipedia. I have spent 2-3 years editing Wikipedia and focus most of my attention on content generation. All of my reference use full citation information, which helps users to verify the information I add to the encyclopedia even if they do not have access to the pay-site's articles. Most of my articles require a large amount of research as they deal with contemporary issues where the sources I need are often behind paywalls rather than available freely on Google's reference searches like Scholar or News. That said, they just changed the Google News search so the old Archive function is no longer available, providing even less good sources to create articles. My articles are largely on law, medical, or entertainment related people or firms, and Highbeam would make my articles better researched, and allow me to create articles on subjects I may otherwise not be able to. If you have any flexibility in your requirements, I would very much appreciate being able to access your resources with a free account. I am diligent in providing detailed citations to references, and it's clear to me that HighBeam can allow me to provide higher quality in my editing and will greatly enhance my research. My areas of interest are listed at User:Lwarrenwiki, and I have seen that HighBeam covers (for example) major city newspapers with reporting of music-related events, as well as music criticism. I do have access to certain online databases, mainly via my local library membership, but this tends to be limited to UK databases, - so Highbeam, for example, would expand my research worldwide. I used to be able to find news articles through Google Archives which provided articles from almost a decade ago. I used these article to get several roller coaster articles to the GA or FA level. Google has since removed the archive feature and is now hard to find news archives. User:JonRichfield. In the past four years or so I have done well over 3000 edits, and a fair proportion of my work has been on articles that I initiated. Most of the topics that I deal with are substantial, plus many RFCs (no groupie celeb touting for example). Most of my work is in a wide range of scientific and technical matters, particularly biological and computing, though I deal with a certain amount of historical and philological material as well. I am not familiar with HighBeam resources, but it sounds extremely valuable for some kinds of data search for up-to date citable material. A good proportion of my work is in dealing with "citation wanted" texts, so my requirements for reputable citations is atypically high. I am retired and cannot often reach the local university libraries and it is not clear to me that the HighBeam resources would be available there even if I could. I do not apply for any material benefit to myself nor to any third party, commercial or otherwise. In short, if I find that HighBeam resources are appropriate to my work, I not only would be able to put them to good use, but would in the process be publicising their value in good faith and without reducing their market value. HighBeam's articles make it easier to find sources for articles when I'm trying to determine if they are eligible for deletion (through WP:PROD usually, but I do WP:AFD discussions on occasion). The Whispering Wind - Google News is becoming increasingly ineffective for identifying sources relating to schools and other education articles and such articles risk being deleted not because the sources do not exist but because they are not accessible. I constantly provide verifiable sources for unreferenced information in articles by other editors. This occupies the majority of my editing time on Wikipedia. I also add references and images to sister Wikipedia projects in other languages when appropriate. When I find a PD image for a biography that has none, I add it to every other Wikipedia project that has the same article in another language. My research is done by using Google Book Search plus databases and microfilm available through the Los Angeles Public Library and my two California Community College libraries. As useful and comprehensive as these research tools are, there are many publications that are only available on Highbeam at this time and none of the three libraries I have access to subscribe to Highbeam.
