Oxygenium (-i, n.) sive oxygenum (ex Graeco ὀξύς 'acutus, acer, acidus' + γείνομαι 'gigno', nam olim putabatur oxygenium proprium acidis esse), O abbreviatum, est octavum in systemate periodico elementum chemicum, in capite turmae chalcogeniarum positum.
Sunt isotopia stabilia tria:
- 816O octo neutrona in nucleo habens. 99,8 partes centesimae oxygenii hoc isotopum constat.
- 817O novem neutrona in nucleo habens.
- 818O decem neutrona in nucleo habens.
Oxygenium est statu solit gas, liquidum fit sub 90,19 K fit, solidum sub 54,75 K.
Elementum purum in duabus formis stat: oxygenium O2 et ozonum O3 (Graece ὄζον "olens") quod est valde venenosum.
Oxida substantiae ex oxygenio et elemento alio factae sunt, exempli gratia monoxidum carbonii CO, oxidum calcii CaO, oxidum ferri Fe2O3 et oxidum hydrogenii H2O, quod est aqua.
