The victims were struck by the race car when its driver - reported to be local man Sergio Tabeayo - lost control during the La Coruña Rally, in the Spanish municipality of Carral in the north west of the country. Footage of the crash (pictured, left) shows the moment the car skids across the dirt track before ploughing into a group of roughly 20 spectators (centre), sending them flying into the air. Two pregnant women and an eight-year-old child have both been confirmed to be among the six people killed. Sixteen people were injured, six seriously. The race was immediately suspended in the aftermath, with police warning that the death toll is likely to rise. Emergency services remain on the scene tonight (right), supporting the victims and their families.

Eight men escaped death when their dinghy took on water and began to sink off the coast of Turkey in the same waters where tragic Syrian toddler Aylan died while trying to reach Europe with his family (top right). These men were luckier - they were rescued by Turkish coastguard with seconds to spare (bottom left). But, astonishingly, after having their names taken down, they were sent on their way to plan another attempt in the dangerous waters (right).

NEW Eduardo Oviedo, 66, (left) has been accused of incarcerating his son, 32, and 61-year-old wife, who is also said to have mental health issues. Oviedo was arrested Friday in the city of Mar del Plata. According to a local prosecutor, the prison cell (top and bottom right) had a dirt floor and was covered in rubble and bricks.

Canadian tennis star Eugenie Bouchard withdrew from the women's and mixed doubles competitions of the 2015 US Open after falling and hitting her head in the locker room on Friday evening. US Open Tournament Director David Brewer said in a statement that it is unknown if Bouchard will compete in the singles competition. The announcement comes just a day after she caught the eyes of the crowd as she and Aussie tennis bad-boy Nick Kyrgios flirted their way through the first round of the mixed doubles draw.

Crystal Cortez, 23, pictured left, was arrested on Friday night and charged with capital murder in the death of 35-year-old Kendra Hatcher, pictured center, who was shot and killed in a Dallas parking garage on Wednesday. Cortez voluntarily admitted to being involved in the murder and told detectives that other people may have been involved, police said. Cortez told detectives that she was paid $500 to drive a man to the garage for a robbery, adding that the same man was the shooter who killed Hatcher. Cortez says she drove the jeep, inset, which was shown on surveillance footage in the car park.

Tyrell Cameron, a sophomore at Franklin Parish High, in Winnsboro, Louisiana, was wheeled off the field on a stretcher in the fourth quarter and taken to the emergency room.Cameron, who is described as a five-foot-seven 167 pounds sophomore linebacker for the Franklin Parish Winnsboro, Lane had been playing against Sterlington on Friday night.

Tim Tebow's time is up in Philadelphia and Devon Still's run in Cincinnati has come to an end as the Eagles and Bengals announced their cuts before the NFL's roster deadline at 4pm on Saturday. The Eagles released Tebow (left) along with 21 other players even though the popular quarterback had seemingly secured a roster spot. The Bengals made a similar decision and Still (center), a defensive tackle best known because of his daughter's battle with cancer, was also released. Since the team kept him on the roster last season, Still and his five-year-old daughter Leah (seen far right) have five years of NFL health insurance.

Police officers Darren Goforth (bottom left), Don Allen (bottom center) and Joe Gliniewicz (bottom right) were recently murdered across two states within just four days of each other. This week, the cops' grief-stricken loved ones were joined by thousands of mourners as they bid farewell to the men at separate memorial services. In emotional scenes, Goforth's widow, Kathleen (left, in blue), closed her eyes and wept as her husband - a 47-year-old father-of-two - was laid to rest in Texas. Sean French, 39 (bottom right with his son), jumped through the window of Troy Morsch's stationary car to take his keys and keep him from re-entering the highway with his one-year-old daughter in the backseat. Morsch (top right) failed a field sobriety test (main) and was arrested and charged with operating a motor vehicle while impaired, operating a motor vehicle without control and child endangering. His daughter was unharmed and released to her mother, the highway patrol report said. French said he would stop an impaired driver again if he had to.

Lauren Mohney (pictured left), who was the only survivor after her father, David Mohney Sr., opened fire at their Port Orange, Florida home on October 17, 2014, is doing great and is described as a miracle by her mother. Lauren's older siblings, Savanna, 14, and David Jr., 11, were killed in the attack by their father as he went went through a divorce with their mother (the family pictured right: Lauren, left, Savanna, second left, David Jr., second from right, and their mother, Cynthia, right). 'Lauren's doing great with everything that she's suffered,' her mother, Cynthia Mohney, said. 'She's a miracle.'

Seawater used in nearby mines has been blamed for causing the enormous crater in the Perm region of central Russia. The sinkhole has grown to 400ft across and is said to be visible from space. Latest images, taken from a helicopter, show the abyss threatening forests on two sides, as well as more homes now standing on the edge of the gaping precipice. The site is two miles from the nearest town but was a regular summer getaway destination until the holiday homes were abandoned in 2005 following concerns the ground was sinking. One local source said as many as 20 cottages, unoccupied at the time, have now sunk into the chasm.

An Australian shepherd named Jade was found in the Canyon area on Friday, 42 days after she went missing. Jade and her owner, Dave Sowers (bottom left, right), along with his girlfriend, Laura Gillice, were in a car accident (top left) at Yellowstone National Park on July 23 when Jade fled. Sowers said that Jade is doing well, despite losing about 15 pounds and having a small cut on her lip.

Queensland residents be warned, there may be an enormous snake lurking right underneath your toilet seat. Snake catcher Elliot Budd, from Townsville, in north-east Queensland, was called out to a property in Mount Stewart after a group of tradesmen discovered a massive carpet python coiled up in the downstairs loo. 'It was about three metres long - definitely one of the biggest I have ever relocated,' Mr Budd told Daily Mail Australia.
