முப்பதாண்டுப் போர் (1618–1648) என்பது ஒரு மதப் போர் ஆகும். இது முக்கியமாக ஜேர்மனியிலேயே இடம்பெற்றாலும் பெரும்பாலான ஐரோப்பிய அரசுகள் இதில் ஈடுபட்டிருந்தன. புனித ரோமப் பேரரசில் புரட்டஸ்தாந்தினருக்கும், கத்தோலிக்கருக்கும் இடையிலான போராகத் தொடங்கிய இது, படிப்படியாக முழு ஐரோப்பாவும் தழுவிய அரசியல் போராக வளர்ச்சியுற்றது. முப்பதாண்டுப் போர், ஐரோப்பிய அரசியல் முன்னிலைக்காக போர்பொன்-ஹப்ஸ்பர்க் போட்டியின் தொடர்ச்சியாகும். இந்த அரசியல் போட்டி பிரான்சுக்கும், ஹப்ஸ்பர்க் அரசுகளுக்கும் இடையே மேலும் சண்டைகளை உருவாக்கியது.
பெரும்பாலும் கூலிப்படைகளின் மூலமே இடம்பெற்ற இப் போரினால் ஏற்பட்ட முக்கிய தாக்கம் முழுப் பகுதிகளிலுமே ஏற்பட்ட பேரழிவுகள் ஆகும். பஞ்சம், நோய்கள் என்பனவற்றினால் ஜேர்மனிய நாடுகளிலும், கீழ் நாடுகளிலும், இத்தாலியிலும் மக்கள் தொகை குறிப்பிடத்தக்க அளவு குறைந்தது. போரில் பங்குபற்றிய பல நாடுகள் பெரும் பொருளாதார நெருக்கடிக்கு உள்ளாயின. போரை உருவாக்கிய சில பிணக்குகள் தீர்க்கப்படாமலேயே நீண்ட காலம் தொடர்ந்தன. முப்பதாண்டுப் போர், வெஸ்ட்பேலியா அமைதி ஒப்பந்தங்களின் ஒரு பகுதியான மியூன்ஸ்டர் ஒப்பந்தம் (Treaty of Münster) மூலம் முடிவுக்கு வந்தது.
