'They're wasting their breath': Wendy Williams says Ariana Grande fans are too sensitive after 'body-shaming' backlash

Angry Ariana Grande fans have failed in their mission to get The Wendy Williams Show canceled.

The outspoken host, 51, came under fire in August for saying the pop princess looked like a 12-year-old, which the singer's fans said was nasty 'body shaming.'

On Thursday, Williams said Grande's fans were too sensitive and that her show will return to airwaves on September 14 despite the criticism.

Spotted out in New York, Williams nodded and pulled a face when asked if Grande fans were 'too sensitive.'

'They're wasting their breath,' she said, dismissing the upset fans 'kids.'

The Wendy Williams Show host wore a form-fitting purple dress and with fishnets, and flashed a big smile as she made her way to her waiting vehicle.

Nude-and-gold pumps, a black handbag and large gold hoop earrings completed her stylish look.

Williams sparked a backlash for saying Grande didn't look like a real woman.

'She's 21. She'll forever look 12,' the outspoken host told her audience on the The Wendy Williams Show on August 13.

'And I don't mean that in a good way. It's nice to look younger than you are, but when you look too young and then you're short—she's only like 4'11.

'I don't look at her as, like, a woman.'

Make a statement in monochrome shirt dress

Ariana Grande is known for her glitzy outfits but the little lady switched gears a bit and swapped her sequined numbers for a edgy monochrome shirt dress complete with thigh high boots.

Ariana's slogan dress is of course by Jeremy Scott for Moschino. Part of the Resort 2016 collection, this dress is not yet available for us mere mortals. But if you want to emulate Ariana's style, check out the carousel below for some great alternatives.

If you're looking for your own piece of Moschino, head over to Net-a-Porter to get a slogan “It’s very expensive being Moschino” T-shirt from this season’s collection. But if that is indeed, too expensive, check out the options from Boohoo and Forever 21 starting from just $14!

Her comments caused the hashtag #CancelWendyWilliams to be trending on Twitter, with fans saying the host was 'body-shaming' the 22-year-old singer.

Llast week, the Love Me Harder singer posted a video grab to Instagram in response to negative comments about her body and sexy outfits.

The pint-sized pop star gives a withering look before waving good-bye in the clip, which she captioned 'me @body shaming / slut shaming & other misogynistic / negative comments'.

As a teenager, Grande rose to fame playing Cat Valentine on Nickelodeon comedy Victorious, which costarred Victoria Justice and ran from 2010-2013.

And it seems Williams has had trouble accepting Grande's more adult look.

The singer, who is currently on her Honeymoon Tour, shook off her child star image with a series of power ballads, and often dons sexy outfits - including her trademark kitten ears - while on stage.

Grande has also earned a reputation as a diva, as well as her infamous Fourth of July 'Donutgate' incident, where she was caught on video licking donuts and putting them back on a donut store shelf while saying she hates America.
