Rod Stewart's back with some old Faces: Sixties legends team up for charity gig

Time may have passed since their 1970s heyday, but The Faces still look like they know how to rock and roll.

Forty years after the band split, the three surviving members – Rod Stewart, 70, Ronnie Wood, 68, and Kenney Jones, 66 – are reuniting today for a sold-out one-off gig for Prostate Cancer UK. Jones was diagnosed with the illness in 2013.

The band formed in 1969 and also included Ronnie Lane, who died in 1997, and Ian McLagan, who died in December.

At the height of their fame, the band were known for their drinking and partying almost as much as their music.

Stewart said: ‘Being in The Faces was a whirlwind of madness but, my god, it was beyond brilliant.’

The Faces split in 1975 after guitarist Wood began working with the Rolling Stones and Stewart’s solo career took off.

The band will play a short set at the Rock ’n’ Horsepower charity event at Hurtwood Park Polo Club in Ewhurst, Surrey, which is owned by Jones.

The Faces last performed together at the Brit Awards in 1993.
