An elementary school custodian has been arrested on charges that he molested a 12-year-old girl.

Jose Coello, 56, worked as head custodian at Cypress Elementary School in Kissimmee, Florida.

Coello allegedly went to the girl's home saying he was there to 'check on her' and walked in without permission, according to The Palm Beach Post

Coello and the girl were reportedly on friendly terms and he had visited her family's home in the past, according to The Orlando Sentinel.

Once in the girl's bedroom, he allegedly performed a lewd act. The girl reportedly yelled at him to leave the house.

He is charged with obtaining access to a home with false pretenses, battery, and lewd or lascivious conduct.

Though the alleged incident happened in May, police say the girl only recently told her parents about the alleged molestation.

'[She] initially was not going to tell anyone about the incident because Jose was always friendly to her in school and an acquaintance of the family,' stated the police report.

But then the girl 'got depressed recently after seeing the news and thought Jose might target other girls,' according to police.

During his initial interview with police, Coello reportedly did not remember visiting the child's house on previous occasions, but then remembered that he had delivered food to the house and checked on an air conditioner.

He denies all of the allegations.

He also denied that he had ever been quizzed by cops about his behavior with underage girls in the past, however, cops then unearthed a 2004 sheriff's report in which he was accused of acting inappropriately with a 16-year-old girl while he worked as a custodian at Gateway High School, according to the Orlando Sentinel.

'Jose asked the student some personal questions and told the girl he cheats on his wife and they could get married when she graduates,' the report stated. 'Eventually Jose admitted that the student referenced in that report was coming onto him and she initiated the inappropriate conversation.'

He was never charged in that alleged incident.

Coello had been working for the schools system for 11 years. He resigned on Saturday.
