Fitted around the waist and cinched in with a dainty belt, Alicia's dress hugged her hips before flaring with a little more volume as it fell to the ground.

For added feminine detail, the sleeves included frilly trims.

Alicia wore her brunette locks in a pretty up-do and wore very little make-up on her flawless olive complexion.

The Danish Girl is a poignant biographical drama that tells the true story of Lili - born Einar Wegener - who became one of the first people to have gender reassignment surgery in the 1930s.

As the film trailer reveals, it underpins the beautiful love story between Einar and his wife Gerda, played by Alicia Vikander, who falls for the 'charming and mysterious' artist.

The film is hyped for big things at the Venice Film Festival, which is judged by three juries; The Venezia 72 Competition jury, Jury of the Orizzonti and Luigi De Laurentiis.

Alicia's performance is already receiving some excellent reviews, with Variety praising the actress's role.

'The surprise of The Danish Girl is that it’s as much Vikander’s showcase as it is Redmayne’s,' Guy Lodge wrote in his piece about the period flick.

'Toggling sensuality and sensitivity, with a latent streak of anger throughout, Vikander plays her half beautifully… it’s the stuff that best actress campaigns are built upon.'
