Striding along with his chiseled chest on display in a pair of board shorts, Scott Eastwood certainly suits the California lifestyle.

The handsome actor has spent the day fishing with friends, and proved himself to be every bit as natural in the great outdoors as his father Clint.

After heading out onto the ocean on a boat, the 29-year-old posted an Instagram snap of himself holding up his impressive catch.

'Mahi Mahi. Fish tacos tonight. My house,' wrote Scott.

And he told his fans: 'Don't just go to the store or restaurant your whole life and ask for your fish or meat. Understand the cycle of life. 

'Live it and Respect it. We are only on this planet for a short time. Get out of your comfort zone and try something new!!! Makes us all grow!'

Scott's star has been on the rise over the past year.

Having started his career as a model, he turned to acting, adopting the last name of his famous father.

Scott starred in the romantic, The Longest Ride, in the spring and will next appear in the biopic, Snowden, set for a Christmas Day release.

Scott is also one of the many Hollywood stars appearing in the superhero film, Suicide Squad, expected out in August 2016. 

His most recent role was alongside Taylor Swift in the video for her new track, Wildest Dreams, which premiered on Sunday's MTV VMAs.

The video revolves around two 1950s-era movie stars filming in Africa and there has been some backlash, with critics calling it racist and saying it panders to 'rich white fantasies' from a colonial era.

But Scott remains proud of the video, writing on Instagram: 'What an amazing time working with @taylorswift Not only is she a rockstar.

'But someone I am proud to call a friend. 

'She is a great person and those are hard to find in your life. When you do.... Hold tight.'
