  • His base salary with the NFL team contract increases yearly
  • Advertising campaigns could earn him further millions
  • He was earning nearly $1 million per season in the NRL

Jarryd Hayne's inclusion in the NFL's San Francisco 49ers final roster is a numbers game.

The Australian's selection means he can look forward to some major paydays.

His base salary will start out at $USD25,588 ($AUD37,022) per week, which he will be paid for the rest of the year, the Sydney Morning Herald reported.

It is part of an $AUD2.3million, three year package, which equals $US435,000 in his rookie year, $US525,000 and $US615,000 in his third year.

His first of 17 - the duration of the NFL season - weekly payments will come this week.

Although it is less than the nearly $1m he earned per season playing NRL for the Parramatta Eels, he told Fairfax Media earlier this year 'this was never about the money'.

However, the pay cut will be sweetened by a potential $12m in endorsements the former Eels player could make over the next three years.

His outstanding performances for the team have won the hearts of Australian and American fans

According to The Project, the 27-year-old could make that money in advertising campaigns.

Bob Dorfan, a sports marketing expert from San Francisco, spoke on the show saying Hayne would make money from any products 'he can take his shirt off for'.

If he became a star in the team, his story was the kind that would attract the attention of the American public and lead to millions in advertising endorsments, Mr Dorfan said.

Hayne was making $600 per week as vied for a position in the 49ers final roster, the Sydney Morning Herald reported.

His new contract includes a $US107,100 guarantee as well as an $US8000 signing bonus, which he will keep if he is cut from the team at any point.

The Australian continually wowed fans at home and in the US as he proved his worth during his first two games for the team, leading to his eventual selection in the final roster.

He has even been dubbed the 'Hayne plane', and has received accolades from former fellow league players and even Tony Abbott.
