Smith's mother is former US Ambassador to Ireland Jean Kennedy Smith and he is the nephew of deceased Sen Kennedy of Massachusetts and the late President Kennedy.

Nine-months pregnant Ana Cayazzo and her partner Miguel Caridad, both in their 20s, died instantly when a driver lost control of his racing car at a rally in north-west Spain on Saturday. At least another five people are believed to have been killed, including another pregnant woman and child aged eight. Sowers said that Jade is doing well, despite losing about 15 pounds and having a small cut on her lip.
