Woody's eye for leading ladies: Colourful director admits one of his greatest pleasures is 'looking at beautiful women'

Woody Allen has admitted one of his life’s greatest pleasures has been ‘looking at beautiful women’.

The director, known for his colourful private life, said the opportunity to work with actresses such as Naomi Watts and Scarlett Johansson is one of the main reasons he makes films. 

Allen, 79, who has been married three times, said: ‘One of the great pleasures of show business is you get to work with beautiful women.

'I go to work in the morning and… there’s Emma Stone looking like she’s a goddess, there’s Scarlett or Naomi.’

In the last few weeks, stars including Kristen Stewart and Jesse Eisenberg have been spotted on the set of his latest project, which remains untitled. 

It is the first time Allen has chosen to make a film in the greater Los Angeles area since his 1977 classic Annie Hall.

The rest of the cast is star-studded as it includes Blake Lively, Bruce Willis, Corey Stoll, Anna Camp, Parker Posey, Paul Schneider and Judy Davis. 

He was interviewed for the new book Woody Allen: Film By Film.
