Leprechaun traps are such fun to make with the little ones. Legend has it that if a Leprechaun is captured by a human then he has the power to grant three wishes in return for his release. Teachers often set children the task of making a Leprechaun trap as a school project so there are lots of versions out there but we wanted to design something that was super simple to create yet beautiful enough to sit on your child’s windowsill throughout March. Family life is hectic and although we love to make, we don’t always have the time to spend every evening on a project – sometimes simplicity is key! Our Leprechaun trap uses a tall mason jar as it’s main frame which we have then decorated with these super cute Irish inspired paper and cut out shamrocks. Traditional Leprechaun traps entice the cheeky Leprechaun up a little ladder with some gold nuggets or coins. As he steps onto the top of the trap the Leprechaun falls through and is trapped until the human releases him. We put together the little wooden ladder using trimmed bamboo skewers and our hot glue gun. You can print the PDF for this design onto an 11×17 piece of paper. Our cheeky little Leprechaun is the same design we used for the candy huggers on Wednesday – he’s super simple of print and cut and makes a cute addition.
