Begovic sets heart on £15m Old Trafford move as United ponder replacing De Gea

Asmir Begovic has targeted a switch to Manchester United in the summer if the Premier League leaders decide to sell David De Gea.

The in-form Stoke stopper has been targeted by both Manchester clubs - as well as Arsenal and Liverpool - but the Bosnian has set his heart on Old Trafford, according to The Sun.

Sir Alex Ferguson has reportedly shortlisted Begovic to solve his goalkeeping problems as David De Gea and Anders Lindegaard continue to show frailties.

De Gea, who is reportedly homesick in Manchester, is likely to be allowed to return to Spain, either to Real Madrid or Barcelona.

And friends say Begovic, 25, is very interested in filling his gloves. It is certainly preferable to warming the bench as an understudy to Joe Hart at City.

Stoke manager Tony Pulis is likely to set a transfer fee of £15million for the Bosnian, who is contracted at the Britannia until 2016.

However, with United willing to pay that amount, it will represent excellent business on a goalkeeper signed for just £3m from Portsmouth in 2010.
