Jim Parson's college friend who he thanked in 2010 Emmys speech is arrested for improper relationship with student

A former college roommate and longtime friend of Big Bang Theory star Jim Parsons has been arrested for having an improper relationship with one of his high school students.

Greg Stanley was arrested in College Station, Texas after one of his 17-year-old students reported that he lured him to his home and served him alcohol before sexually assaulting him.

Parsons praised the 42-year-old theater arts teacher in his 2010 Emmys acceptance speech.

According to TMZ police have a recording of a conversation that took place between Stanley and the teen after the incident.

In the clip, Stanley can be heard offering the student an important position within a student organisation 'if we could just move on'.

Stanley was not charged with child molestation as in Texas the age of consent is 17.  

However, having an improper relationship with a student is a 2nd degree felony - punishable by up to 20 years in prison.

The teacher has been placed on administrative leave from College Station High School.

A rep for Parsons told TMZ that the actor was no longer in contact with Stanley, saying 'They were friends but have not been in contact for several years.'

Parsons, 42, scooped the award for lead actor in a comedy series in 2010 and mentioned Stanley at the end along with his immediate family members.

The actor has played Sheldon Cooper in hugely successful comedy The Big Bang Theory, since 2006.
