Pete Doherty is an avid Queens Park Rangers fan and the rocker made no secret of his delight that Charlie Austin is staying at the club when he joined the striker on the Soccer AM sofa on Saturday.

Austin scored 18 goals for QPR in the Premier League last season but could not keep the side in the top flight.

He was strongly linked with a move to a club in England's elite division throughout the summer transfer window but has remained at Loftus Road, much to the joy of Libertines frontman Doherty.

From my cell window

Hear the Loff boys sing

Come on you Rrrrs

Carry on and win

And in the morning I’ll be singing

Like a caged bird, you might say

Doherty joked that he had 'inside information' that Austin was always going to remain at Loftus Road, saying that the striker told him backstage at a gig that he would stay.

The 26-year-old also played an excerpt of a song about supporting QPR to Austin and also told the striker that he had dedicated the song 'Time For Heroes' to him when they headlined Leeds festival last weekend.

Austin has already scored four goals in five games for QPR this season, as he spearheads their attempts to earn an immediate return to the Premier League.
