Dahlia Yehia, from Kalamazoo, Michigan, has been missing since travelling to the city of Pokhara last month to help people who were injured or lost their homes following last April's earthquake. A local man, named by police as Narayan Prasad Paudel, has allegedly admitted battering Miss Yehia to death with a hammer and a lathi - a metal-clad baton - as she slept in his house in Dhital village, near Pokhara. Miss Yehia, who was an art teacher in Austin, Texas, at the time, was staying in a rented room in Paudel's home when she was savagely attacked, said senior local officer Govinda Adhikari. 'He confessed that he killed her and then threw her body into a river,' the officer told the Himalayan Times. 'Unfortunately, we have not found her body yet. 'We are also trying to find out the motive for the killing.' Mr Adhikari said the suspect had thrown Miss Yehia's body into the Seti River from the KI Singh Bridge.

Kansas State's marching band has apologized for performing a surprisingly explicit half-time formation. Director Frank Tracz insists the troupe had been trained to depict a Jayhawk, their main rival's mascot, in battle with a spaceship. Alison Shuemake (top left and bottom left as a young girl) and her boyfriend, 31-year-old Luther Combs, were found dead on August 26 in their shared apartment. Historians believe they have uncovered a series of burial chambers in Turkey dating back to the Kingdom of Uratu, which ruled the country from the mid-ninth century until its defeat by the Medes. Despite different girls in the five member group suffering horrendous falls at different times during the act, they happily jump back to their feet and fall into line and continue as if nothing has happened.

Two defensive backs from John Jay High School have been suspended after tackling the referee during a game against Marble Falls in Texas after apparently becoming unhappy with his calls. The tackle took place in the final minute of the game as Marble Falls looked to hold possession and their 15-9 lead. Two Jays players had previously been sent from the field on two separate plays, apparently angering the defensive backs. Footage of the incident, which has been described as 'extremely disturbing', shows the pair running five yards into the official, who is facing the other way, before one barges him over (left and center, referee circled). The second then dives into him helmet-first as he lays on the floor (right).

Retired firefighter David Quinlivan, 65, (pictured) feared he would bleed to death after he was knocked off his surf ski and bitten by the shark in Australia, four hours north of Sydney. His best friend Gary Jones said the champion surf lifesaver from Newcastle revealed how he saw a 'silver flash' before the shark bit his left ankle and started violently shaking its head. A woman heroically ran into the water to rescue Mr Quinlivan, pictured (right) is blood spattered on his surf ski. After he made it back to safety on dry land, Mr Quinlivan was airlifted to the John Hunter Hospital in Newcastle for emergency surgery.

Chef Anjula Devi (pictured), 51, from west London, believes that the secret to her amazingly youthful looks lies in her traditional Indian diet filled with herbs and spices such as turmeric, cumin and chillies. She says British 'curries' bear little resemblance to authentic Indian cooking, which is based on fresh vegetables and greens without any artificial colours. The shark was found at White Crest Beach in Wellfleet on Sunday. People continuously poured water over it and even dug out a stream in the sand (left) to try and get it back in the water. Despite their best efforts, the 11-foot-long shark (right) did not survive. Police said it already appeared sick or injured when it was found on the beach.

Sports-loving Lauren, from Houston, Texas, revealed she has always had longer legs than others her age and believes she has a strong claim for America's longest. Batman fans around the world will finally get a chance to get their hands on the original Batmobile as it goes up for auction in Arizona. It is expected to cost an estimated $3million when it is privately sold at Barrett-Jackson Collection Showroom in Scottsdale. Driven by actor Adam West, the iconic Batmobile was used in the 1966 TV series and remains one of the most popular cars in the world.
