Denise Welch vows to quit drinking after toyboy Lincoln Townley shows her a video he recorded of her during a drunken rant

In a new phase of life; Denise Welch has vowed to stop drinking after her beau Lincoln Townley filmed her during a drunken rant

It's no secret that Denise Welch likes a drink but following her battles with alcohol, the former Coronation Street actress has been given the boost she needs to finally quit.

Thanks to her new lover Lincoln Townley's shock tactic to get Denise to realise how different she is after a drink, the mother-of-two feels like a new woman.

Following a night out of heavy boozing in London last month, Denise and Lincoln, 39 became embroiled in a row when they returned to their flat at which point he decided to film Denise on his mobile phone.

The couple who came public with their romance in April were arguing about how the 54-year-old's drinking was destroying their relationship at which point she was highly intoxicated and launched into an abusive rant.

In an attempt to make Welch see the devastating affect alcohol was having on her, Townley filmed her tirade and showed her the video the next morning which proved to be 'wake-up call' for the actress.

Speaking to the Daily Star, a source close to Denise said: 'Seeing herself drunk and out of control, slurring horrible abuse at the man she loves was a real wake-up call.'

'It was truly shocking for her to see the kind of vile behaviour she is capable of when she has a few drinks inside her and she knew if she didn’t change she would risk losing Lincoln for ever.'

In the video the Loose Women star witnessed herself calling her 39-year-old beau 'every name under the sun', and according to the paper she broke down and promised to stop drinking.

At the start of the month it was revealed how Denise had ditched the bottle and gone dry with the help of party planner Lincoln who was also helping her through a difficult time after her mother May, 75, died in May.

And continuing to get his girlfriend on the straight and narrow, the source added: 'He absolutely adores her but there is only so much abuse one man can take and he just wouldn’t have been able to put up with many more nights like that.'

Speaking to the Sunday Mirror a few weeks back Welch said: 'I'm very, very happy in my personal life. I want to move forward in a positive way and not drinking is helping that.'

'It's been quite a tough year and and I just felt that I would deal with it better without alcohol. We are putting our relationship before the bottle.'

Denise left her husband actor Tim Healy, another famous drinker, for her toyboy lover after beginning an affair with the 39-year-old in April.
