In the mood for bromance! Robbie Williams plants kiss on Karl Stefanovic on the Today show


He only jetted in on Tuesday, but Robbie Williams is already enjoying the thrills of a budding bromance.

Performing an exclusive set for Australian morning programme Today, the singer got up close and personal with host Karl Stefanovic when he leaned in for a kiss as he made his way on stage.

'I just kissed Robbie Williams on the lips!' gushed an excited Stefanovic, 'And it was good!'

'I think Robbie Williams actually kissed you on the lips,' quipped his co-host Lisa Wilkinson as things heated up on stage.

Williams delighted fans with a performance including tracks from his new album Swing Both Ways, as well as an emotional rendition of Angels, with his musical collaborator Guy Chambers on the piano.

Fans who had traveled from all around the country after winning tickets to watch the live performance in the Today show studios in Sydney teared up at seeing their beloved idol.

One woman briefly left the crowded studio to get some air after becoming overwhelmed at seeing the 40-year-old star.

In between songs the now Los Angeles based British singer answered questions from fans and entertained the audience with anecdotes about his life and family.

When host Lisa asked Williams what it was like working with Kylie Minogue for the pair's duet Kids, Robbie replied 'Frustrating. Sexually frustrating,' which brought roaring laughter from Karl, Lisa, Richard and the crowd.

But an even bigger reaction was elicited from the audience when the news of Robbie's upcoming Australian tour was announced.

Fans began screaming when it was revealed the star will do a four show tour of Australia beginning in September.

The former Take That band member also made a touching tribute to late INXS singer Michael Hutchence, saying if he could duet with anyone alive or dead it would be him.

He also touched on his relationship with wife Ayda Field, revealing how the Turkish-American actress changed his life.

'Life became gentler, easier and more beautiful after meeting her,' he admitted.

Later when he appeared as a guest on Channel Nine's Mornings, Robbie spoke about the influence his father has had on his life and work.

'My dad is incredibly charismatic and charming and a very good singer, he just didn't get the lucky break I got,' Williams said.

'When I was growing up he was my hero in many ways and the inspiration for the act that I do.'

He also spoke about how being a father to daughter Teddy had changed him.

'I have all the love in the world now when I look at her,' he admitted.

The Love Supreme singer jetted into Sydney on Tuesday ahead of a brief promotional tour for his new album Swings Both Ways.

The Robbie Williams Australian Tour 2014 will kick off in Perth on September 11 and finish in Sydney on the 27th.

It's been eight years since Williams last toured Down Under.
