She sang her heart out for her role as Fantine in Les Misérables, however it looks as though Anne Hathaway is still hoping to hone her vocal skills.

The actress was spotted on Thursday reportedly leaving a singing lesson at a private residence in Los Angeles, while sporting a chic yet casual look.

The 31-year-old kept her sunglasses firmly in place and showed only a hint of a smile as she headed to her car.

The One Day star showed off her slim pins in a pair of dark skinny jeans, which were teamed with some chunky black boots.

Her striped top brought a much needed pattern to her outfit, as she carried a stylish, tan and navy satchel on her shoulder.

At one point the brunette beauty could be seen holding her female companion's hand as they left the premises, followed by a number of others.

It is not known if the lessons are for a particular film role, but a spokesman has been contacted on behalf of the actress.

When MTV spoke with to Anne about her latest project Song One, she said: 'We [her and her friends] had been working on the script for almost two years before we actually started shooting. All of the elements came together in that moment.

'I don't want to bring up a sore subject or anything, but I had just taken a little bit of a beating from the Internet.'

The low-budget flick follows the story of a young woman who connects with her brother's music idol after he ends up in a coma.

While music is an important element in the film, it is not thought that Anne will be singing on-screen.

The A-Lister looked a little more glamorous when she attended the Hollywood Stands Up To Cancer Event on Tuesday in an edgy studded blazer and slim-fitting trousers.
