'My artist!' Proud mother Katie Holmes shares rare photo of daughter Suri, nine, as she spray paints on the street

She may have been helping her famous mother with something for her new movie, All We Had.

Katie Holmes posted an adorable snap of her daughter Suri, nine, concentrating intently as she spray painted a piece of plywood with red lines and the figure three on a New York street on Friday.

The proud 36-year-old captioned it: 'My artist creating with me,' adding a heart emoji and the hashtag whatitisallabout.

The nine-year-old, who is Tom Cruise's daughter, wore a large red shirt pulled on backwards like an artist's smock and tied with a belt to protect her clothes from the paint as she crouched next to the panel, spray can in hand.

Fortunately, her long hair was pulled up into a top knot to avoid any tresses getting in the way of the spray.

If Suri doesn't take up acting like her mum and dad, who split in 2012 after nearly six years of marriage, maybe she has a career as a set designer in front of her.

Katie is presently directing her first movie, All We Had, in the Big Apple.

She also stars as poverty-stricken single mother Rita Carmichael in the drama, with co-star Stefania Owen, 17, as her 13-year-old daughter, Ruthie.

On Thursday Katie ramped up the pace ahead of the Labor Day holiday weekend, filming two scenes.

Caffeine and nicotine: In this scene, her character appeared to be flirting with Luke Wilson's character as they took a break from an AA meeting to enjoy a coffee and a cigarette together

In the first, she and Stefania filled up their car, apparently ready to make a quick get away from a rented apartment.

In the second she and co-star Luke Wilson's characters appeared to be flirting as they took a break from an AA meeting to enjoy a coffee and a cigarette together.

The film has yet to set a release date.

Go bold in red with Katie's Isabel Marant top

Katie Holmes is one for a true laid back style when out and about. No heels or bodycon dresses, it's all about the comfort so how could we not love her for it? Especially when she still does it with style, in this gorgeous Isabel Marant blouse.

With simple skinny jeans and pumps, the bold red blouse adds some brightness into the outfit without going OTT. The smock shape and embellished detailing are an added bonus in jazzing it up a bit.

Katie has joined the celeb fans of this French brand with celebs alike from Rosie Huntington-Whiteley to Miranda Kerr being huge lovers of Isabel Marant (as are we!)

If you head to Net-A-Porter you can snap up a longer version of Katie's top (click right). Or if you fancy a bold addition to your wardrobe Sonoma, NY & Co, Lucky Brand and Forever 21 offer great alternatives at prices that won't hurt your wallet.
