Lust for life! Danny Boyle confirms four Trainspotting stars are on board for sequel and script is 'terrific'

February marks the 20th anniversary of the groundbreaking, gritty heroin flick Trainspotting, and fans can now look forward to a sequel.

Oscar-winning director Danny Boyle confirmed that 'all the four main actors want to come back and do it' to Deadline on Sunday.

'Now it is only a matter of getting all their schedules together which is complicated by two of them doing American TV series,' the 58-year-old filmmaker explained.

Boyle was referring to 42-year-old Jonny - who plays Sherlock Holmes in CBS' Elementary - and 54-year-old Robert, who plays Mr. Gold/Rumplestiltskin on ABC's Once Upon A Time.

John Hodge - whose Trainspotting screenplay scored an Oscar nod - penned the second film, which Danny called 'terrific.'

The British dramedy - set in Edinburgh - is considered a classic by critics and it also spawned two thrilling soundtracks.

Unfortunately, Kevin McKidd won't be back as Thomas 'Tommy' MacKenzie since his character died from HIV-related toxoplasmosis.

There's still hope for the return of Kelly Macdonald, who was 19 when she was picked from obscurity to play 14-year-old Diane Coulston.
