Javier Hernandez gives Louis van Gaal the cold shoulder as he praises Sir Alex Ferguson and scout Jim Lawlor in Manchester United leaving message

Javier Hernandez has hailed Sir Alex Ferguson and Manchester United chief scout Jim Lawlor after leaving Old Trafford but has chosen to give the cold shoulder to Louis van Gaal and David Moyes.

The Bayer Leverkusen new boy was unearthed from Mexican outfit Guadalajara by Manchester United's scouting team - headed up by Lawlor - ahead of the 2010-11 campaign.

Hernandez made an instant impression at Old Trafford by scoring 20 goals in 45 appearances during his first season at the club but slowly dropped down the pecking order after Ferguson left and and Moyes and then Van Gaal came in.

The 27-year-old was shipped out on loan by Van Gaal to Real Madrid last season before eventually sealing a £7.3million move to Germany after failing to impress the current United boss.

Hernandez took to social media to say: 'I want to thank Sir Alex Ferguson and Jim Lawlor, the club staff, all the players I played with; but especially I want to thank all the Manchester United fans in the UK and all around the world for the incredible support I've had this past four years and all the best wishes they have for me in my new chapter!!'

On joining Bayer Leverkusen, Hernandez said he wanted to find 'happiness' again after leaving Van Gaal's side.

‘I want to go back to feeling important and happy,' said Hernandez. 'I want to find happiness.

'Bayer made me feel important and loved and coming here was not a difficult decision to make. They made me feel wanted.’

Hernandez, who won two Premier League titles during his five-year stint at United, is not the only player to aim a parting shot at Van Gaal.

Robin van Persie, Rafael, Angel di Maria and Radamel Falcao have all criticised Van Gaal's coaching style after leaving the club this summer.

HERE'S WHAT VAN PERSIE, RAFAEL, DI MARIA AND FALCAO SAID

ROBIN VAN PERSIE (Manchester United to Fenerbahce)

Van Persie on Van Gaal: ‘When he took over Holland he said to me “You’re the No 3 striker.” I was “O...K...” but I fought and became the No 1 and his captain.

'But when I came back (from injury), it wasn’t an honest battle any more.

'Fighting to get back in the team wasn’t given to me as an option. I know Louis as a national team coach and now I get to know him as a club coach. And there is a difference.’

RAFAEL (Manchester United to Lyon)

Rafael on Van Gaal: ‘I know that he didn’t like me, but if that’s because I’m Brazilian, I don’t know. I was going well, then Ferguson left. That change was fatal for me.'

ANGEL DI MARIA (Manchester United to Paris Saint-Germain)

Di Maria on Van Gaal: ‘Van Gaal has his philosophy, and that is one of the things that made me want to leave. It is difficult to adapt to Van Gaal. I had a couple of rows with him.’

RADAMEL FALCAO (Monaco, via Manchester United, to Chelsea)

Falcao on Van Gaal's tactics: 'Maybe the football philosophy is a little different here in that it is always about getting the ball forward and there is less time when teams are just trying to control the ball and take the heat out of the game.'
