'She will have to work for what she wants': Kim Kardashian insists her privileged daughter North West will have to pay her own way in life

Her parents may be two of the world’s richest stars but that won’t stop little North West from learning the real value of money.

Kim Kardashian has revealed that her 16-month-old daughter with Kanye West will have pay her own way – just like she did.

Speaking with ES Magazine, Kim spoke about how she studiously saved her money during high school so she could treat herself designer goods like Dolce and Gabbana dresses or Prada shoes.

‘We didn’t get anything [from her parents], we had to get a job if we wanted it,’ she explained. ‘So I was working in a clothing store and I would save and save.’

Kim added: ‘I was saying that earlier to my friends, “I wonder what [North’s] first job is gonna be”. And they were like, “What? She’s gonna have a job?” and I was like, “Are you kidding me? Of course she is”. She will have to work for what she wants.’

After showcasing her fashion credentials at Paris fashion week and model for Vogue Magazine, Kim and Kanye's baby has already cemented her status as a global style icon.

When quizzed on what she thought North might aspire to be, Kim replied: ‘I don’t know. She loves fashion. Maybe she’ll be a designer. Who knows? It’s too early to tell.’

The mother-of-one previously revealed to MailOnline how she considers herself a strict parent, by sticking to set nap times and how she doesn’t allow North to sleep in the couple’s bed.

 ‘I am a strict mother,’ she explained. ‘I’m really fun and playful, but I’m really strict on nap time, and sleeping in her own crib.

‘Like Kourtney’s style is where her kids sleep in bed with her, so especially with the third baby coming – they’re going to need a bigger bed or they’re going to need some other rules. And maybe on weekends, [North will] come and sleep in the bed with us. But … I’m not crazy strict.’

Meanwhile, the fashion designer – who turned 34 on Monday – was treated to a series of affectionate Twitter posts from her rapper beau, one year after his marriage proposal.

The 37-year-old star took to Twitter on Tuesday night to share a birthday message to his near 11 million followers and his adorning wife.

The doting husband began by posting a throwback photo of Kim accompanied with the message: 'Happy Birthday baby! Thank you for being the dopest wife & mom!' 

Less than a minute later he added: 'Sometimes I feel like just saying I love you isn’t strong enough to express how much I love you…' 

Her birthday celebrations will be followed by the exciting release of her latest clothing line with sisters Kourtney and Khloe.
