Is that you Shia? LaBeouf is transformed as he smartens up in black tuxedo at Man Down premiere

He's drawn plenty of attention for his routinely scruffy appearance.

But Shia LaBeouf abandoned his deliberately disheveled style for a sharp black tuxedo and bow tie when he attended the Man Down premiere at the Venice Film Festival in Italy on Sunday.

Shia looked picture perfect as he embraced the spotlight, adjusting the front buttons of his crisp blazer that featured a slick lapel.

He also donned a slick pair of leather shoes, and polished off the look with a white shirt, while an emerging five o'clock shadow added a slight rugged touch.

The former Disney star first arrived to the premiere donning a pair of sunglasses, which he removed as he approached the red carpet, shading his eyes with his hands.

Shia, who recently shaved his hair off, then got in touch with his collected side when he posed with his hands clasped in front of his torso.

The actor also posed beside Man Down director Dito Montiel, who was dressed down for the red carpet event with his rolled-up grey trousers and grey sweatshirt.

Further adding to the low-key effect were his blue shoes, which were ripped at the toe.

Dito threw an arm around Shia's shoulders, and the pair grinned from ear-to-ear as they posed together.

The director was no doubt proud of all the hard work his star had put into the film, which also stars Kate Mara, Gary Oldman, and Jai Courtney.

Shia stars as U.S. Marine Gabriel Drummer, who relentlessly searches for his son's exile location in a post-apocalyptic world.

Gary, who previously worked with Shia in 2012's Lawless, will play the young war vet's therapist in Man Down.

In October 2014, Shia told Interview magazine how much he was looking forward to working with Gary again, who he has looked up to as an actor for many years.

The actor also compared Man Down to 'therapy.'

'What I'm going to work on next is a very cathartic thing - it's therapy - a movie called Man Down. Gary Oldman is going to play my therapist, which is the craziest part of the whole thing.'

Of meeting the actor for the film Lawless, Shia said:  'It was like meeting Superman. And he knew how much I looked up to him. I'm pretty blunt about it.

'In those three days, he couldn't get away from me. I thought, "This man will never want to work with me again. I've bombarded him." But then this Man Down thing came up and he was really into it.'

Next up, Shia will continue his big screen presence with a role in the comedy drama American Honey, which is now in post-production.

Also starring Arielle Holmes, the film is scheduled for release later this year and chronicles a teenage girl's antics after she gains employment in sales at a travel magazine.
