'Everything hurts!' Ariana Grande takes to Twitter to cancel Sacramento gig after falling ill

She set herself a punishing concert schedule, playing 65 dates since kicking off her Honeymoon Tour in Independence, Missouri, on February 25.

So it's perhaps no surprise that Ariana Grande has succumbed to a bug that has forced her to pull out of her Sunday performance at the Sleep Train Arena in Sacramento, northern California.

The apologetic 22-year-old let her loyal fans know about the cancellation in a tweet, saying: 'Sacramento I'm so so so sorry that I'm unable to perform for you tonight.

'I'm just too sick :9 I never Want to dissapoint [sic] you. Rescheduling the show for Thursday and I really hope I can make it up to you then...& I love you so so much,' and she wrapped the message with four pink heart emoticons.

The news probably wasn't a surprise to her 32.2 million followers as the Love Me Harder singer has sent out a stream of tweets since she began to fall ill before playing the Moda Centre in Portland, Oregon, on Friday.

On Thursday Ariana tweeted: 'Not feeling well. in bed trying to get better for my Portland babes tomorrow! throat coat tea and OITNB marathon is in order. Goodnight bbs!'

The brunette followed that up with another the next day apologising to her fans in the city, saying: 'Will be a bit more bundled up than usual this show as I'm sick & have terrible chills! please pardon the extra hoodies tn! ily. see u soon.'

But, like the trouper she is, she got through the performance and thanked her fans in four tweets she posted on Friday night, saying: 'Thank you Portland babies I love you so so much. y'all made me feel a million times better tonight. you were wonderful. thank you.

'I apologize for the lack of costume changes!! I had chills and every time I went to take something off/change my body was like..... nahhh. but again.... thank you!!!! and I love you so much.'

Ariana got a slew of tweets wishing her well, to which she replied: 'Wow I really do love y'all a lot................ damn. how'd I get so lucky? thanks for your sweetness. time to sleep til I'm 42. night bbs.'

Fortunately, she had Saturday off and, as usual, she kept her fans up to date in a tweet, saying: 'sick sick sick. everything hurts. :( resting/tryna get better for tomorrow. love u my babes.'

But one day wasn't enough for the Grammy nominated artist to kick the bug that has laid her low and it remains to be seen whether she will be fit enough to play on Thursday.

The Honeymoon Tour is Ariana's first world tour taking in North America, Europe, Asia and South America before wrapping on October 25, in São Paulo, Brazil.
