Chad Kroeger has moved out of the home he shared with Avril Lavigne.

The Nickelback singer was spotted carefully putting his guitars in the trunk as he packed up and left the Los Angeles area home on Wednesday.

Kroeger, 40, has obviously wasted no time in moving on after his separation from Avril Lavigne, 30, became public this week.

Chad wore a white Tshirt from Toronto restaurant Sake Bar Kushi, black jeans and a baseball cap.

He was watched as he did so by a female assistant, perhaps a friend of Avril's.

The Complicated singer announced the end of the Canadian couple's marriage this week.

'It is with heavy heart that Chad and I announce our separation today' Avril wrote on Instagram on September 2.

'Through not only the marriage, but the music as well, we've created many unforgettable moments. We are still, and forever will be, the best of friends, and will always care deeply for each other.'

Kroeger and Lavigne were often seen without their wedding rings in the past year, prompting speculation about their marriage. 

In November, the rocker laughed off the rumors as 'amusing', telling ET Canada that wedding rings 'come off then they go back on.'

And it seems it's true, with the rocker seen wearing what appeared to be his wedding band while he grabbed lunch with a friend on Friday.

Kroeger appeared relaxed as he chatted with his animated pal, while wearing a white Tshirt and classic blue jeans. 

He held his car keys in one hand, with a silver ring clearly visible on his finger. 

The pair met in 2012 while collaborating on a Lavigne album, and became engaged after dating for a month in a whirlwind romance.

The rocker and Sk8er Boi singer tied the knot in the French Riviera in July 2013, but rumors of marital woes began swirling less than a year later.

In addition to relationship stress, both musicians have recently been hit with serious health issues.

Avril was bedridden for five months after contracting a debilitating case of Lyme disease in 2014.

And Kroeger was forced to cancel Nickelback's North American tour and undergo surgery for a cyst on his voice box this year.
