Playing a 'tough as nails' werewolf-vampire hybrid on TV, you would think Phoebe Tonkin would have a pretty strict workout regime.

But the stunning Vampire Diaries star has revealed her surprisingly relaxed attitude to exercise in a new interview with beauty e-mag, Gritty Pretty.

The 26-year-old Sydney-born actress, who splits her time between acting, modelling and keeping her 1.8m Instagram followers entertained, appeared on the cover of the spring 2015 edition of the online glossy looking as eye-catching as ever.

The editorial photo series, which was shot by Jake Terrey, pictures the striking brunette beauty in a variety of sporty outfits by the likes of Chanel, Acne and Faddoul.

Phoebe looks regal and focused as she posed with her hair pulled back off her face and a sheen of bronze powder dusting her eyelids.

She also sported several garments from Australian label Witchery's new activewear line, 'Balance', of which Phoebe is currently an ambassador, while chatting to the magazine about her fitness regime.

'I do Ballet Beautiful workouts on my laptop and Skype my trainer three times a week,' she revealed.

Phoebe, who launched wellness blog Your Zen Life with her actress friend Teresa Palmer two years ago, also gave an insight on her level-headed approach to health.

'I try not to stress too much and to have healthy snacks on hand at work but if there are hot chips on set at midnight, I'm probably going to eat them.'

Multi-tasker: Aside from her on-screen work schedule, she has also recently been named as the brand ambassador for Witchery Balance, a new activewear line by Witchery

The high profile celeb was spotted getting cosy with actor Paul Wesley, who also appears on The Vampire Diaries, late last year.

It became apparent that the pair were an item when Phoebe's fashion blogger pal Alexandra Spencer uploaded an Instagram pic of the two stealing a kiss at a launch party in New York.

Phoebe now appears as the lead character in The Vampire Diaries spin-off show, The Originals, whereby she continues to play her tough-as-nails character, Hayley.
