Mountain man Jake Gyllenhaal shows off bushy beard as he gears up for the release of his film Everest

It was World Beard Day on Saturday.

And Jake Gyllenhaal ended up celebrating with his own bushy facial hair, donning a simple white tee and olive khakis for lunch with a friend in West Hollywood.

The Everest actor, 34, was still quite dapper while going incognito for his daytime outing, sporting a dark baseball cap and turtle framed shades.

A rather polished Jake wore his chestnut locks gelled to the side as he flaunted his still-toned physique thanks to his latest action-packed films.

The Southpaw stud kept comfortable while cruising the town, opting a gold chain as well as a pair of thick soled sneakers with red and yellow accents.

With a hand in his pocket, he displayed a pensive expression after ditching his cap to soak up some sun.

Jake can next be spotted on the big screen for his role as expedition leader Scott Fischer in Everest, which can also be sourced to why he is still parading around some major biceps.

The film, slated for release September 25, is based on true events and follows a climbing expedition on Mt. Everest that becomes devastated by a severe snow storm.

In a recent interview with Outside Magazine, it was revealed that the highly-anticipated movie had a $55 million budget and some scenes in Nepal were filmed at a whopping altitude of 16,000 feet.

'This project attracted people of similar minds.' Jake dished: 'You don’t just have actors sitting in their trailers. You have people who are physical and want to do some crazy s***.'

On Wednesday, the star was spotted making a handsome appearance for the opening ceremony and Everest Film Premiere during the 72nd Venice Film Festival.

Looking refined with his locks sleeked back, Jake graced the Italian red carpet with a suede suit and black bow tie to the great delight of several flashing cameras.

His blue-eyed gaze stole the show alongside Jason Clarke, Josh Brolin and Emily Watson - that is before their movie headlined the event.

This is a big deal for the acclaimed cast of Everest, considering the last two films to open the Venice festival, Gravity in 2013 and Birdman in 2014, went on to obtain major Oscar awards glory.

The movie was drawn from Jon Krakauer's bestselling book Into Thin Air, which features detailed first person accounts of the terrifying adventure to Earth's highest mountain.

Aside from the high-altitude thriller, Jake also has a few titillating projects on the way throughout next year.

Reminiscent to his character in Southpaw, the star just completed Demolition which tells the story of an investment banker who tragically loses his wife in a car accident.

Additionally, his 2016 film Nocturnal Animals is entering the pre-production phase, which is based on the Austin Wright novel Tony and Susan.
