Renoir in Rome @ Vittoriano, Pierre August Renoir: Tradition and Innovation

Renoir galleryFrom March 7, 2008 arrives a fantastic exhibition in Rome dedicated to the great artist Renoir. "Renoir: maturità tra classico e moderno", one of the most interesting exhibition of 2008, explain the human and artistic path of the painter, pointing out its relationship with Italy. The exhibition dedicated to Pierre Auguste Renoir counts approximately 150 works from important public museums and international private collections. The exhibition "Renoir: maturità tra classico e moderno" it's setted up in the Vittoriano and it's available till june 29, 2008.

Sebastiano del Piombo in Rome

On 7 February 2008 arrives in Rome, @ Palazzo Venezia, the first monographic exhibition of the great Venetian artist Luciani aka Sebastiano del Piombo (1485 - 1547), in the city of Rome Sebastiano del Piombo has created a good part of his wonderful paintings. 45 paintings and 40 drawings are on display; Artist contemporary of Leonardo, Raphael, Titian and Giorgione, friend of Michelangelo. A fantastic exhibition in Rome!

Stanley Kubrik in Rome


Untill 6 january we can see a nice exhibition about Stanley Kubrik @ Palazzo delle Esposizioni in Rome. This great tribute to Kubrik is a fantastic opportunity to understand Kubrick’s working method by way of his notes, unpublished documents, scripts, a lot of photographs, testimonials and more backstage films, costumes, and reconstructions of some of his more film sets.

Canova and the winning Venus in Rome


The Galleria Borghese presents the second part in Ten Great Exhibitions, and this time it is dedicated to Antonio Canova.
His most famous sculpture has to be his scandal-causing study of Pauline Bonaparte as Venus, (Paolina Borghese was Napoleon Bonaparte’s sister, and wife of Camillo Borghese, a Roman prince) a statue that has become the symbol of the Borghese Gallery.
We can to admire not only his sculptures but also more than fifty paintings, drawings and clay models. Canova was famous for his marble sculptures that managed to make human skin and fleshin such a delicate manner.

Opera Under the Stars!

Indeed a big event in Rome. Rome ends summer festivities in the Gran Teatro (via di Tor di Quinto) with a presentation of contemporary opera, which is appreciated by Italian audiences.
Schedule of events:
From September 11 to 15: "Notre Dame de Paris" - the modern opera that has beaten all records. Lola Ponce will take on the role or Esmeralda!
September 19: "Tosca Amore Disperato". Lucio Dalla rewrites the Pucci original, with three critically acclaimed surprises and turnarounds
From September 22 to 23: A fantastic version of Bram Stoker's Dracula is presented, with lyrics by Vincenzo Incenzo and directed by Alfred Arias. This opera will exhibit all the power of progressive rock
September 28: The Mediterranean Ballet Corps with 110 performers, will perform the two act opera Frederick II: The Dance of the Falcon
September 29: Gianna Nannini in "Pia come la Canto Io" a fantastic exhibition after the album "Pia come la canto io"

A Sign in Caesar Forum!

Till monday 15 october 2007 we can see a really nice work by Alfredo Pirri: Foro di Cesare on the Via dei Fori Imperiali. This one is a new work by Alfredo Pirri, a large floor of mirrors (400 meters) that resemble the churchyards of imperial basilicas, each positioned in order to reflect the surrounding archaeological ruins of public area.

Achille Pinelli exhibition in Rome

A nice exhibition is about to take place @ Palazzo Braschi that shows Rome as it once was,
according to Italian painter Achille Pinelli.

Achille Pinelli lived during the first half of the 19th Century, and during his career he dedicated much of time to producing watercolours depicting Rome: its alleys, churches, ruins and people.
70 of these watercolours are on display at Palazzo Braschi in a fantastic exhibition till September the17th.

Santiago Calatrava in Rome



We can see in this days the exhibition about Santiago Calatrava @ Scuderie del Quirinale in Rome. This exhibition opening on Wednesday the 4th july 2007 and running till September the 2nd.
Santiago Calatrava is an important architect and structural engineer. His early career was dedicated to train stations and bridges, and his modern, striking design helped him stand out amongst his peers. The turning point of his career was when he maked the "Montjuic Communications Tower" in Barcelona, which was part of the city’s 1992 Olympic site. The striking 136 metre tall steel construction is as futuristic-looking now as when it was built, some 15 years ago.
