My little star! Beyonce's daughter Blue Ivy sings back stage while her famous mom shows her the ropes in the family business

Helping mom at work is not so bad when your mom is Beyonce.

The superstar shared some touching backstage snaps of her daughter Blue Ivy as she helps her prepare for a concert.

The singer, who turned 34 on Friday, uploaded the artistic set of black-and-white photos to her Instagram account on Monday without caption.

In one Beyonce makes her way up a flight of stairs in a figure hugging black dress, while the youngster clambers up beside her in a little white summer frock, carrying an enormous white balloon for the show.

A second picture shows the Halo hitmaker striding across a staging area, now stripped down to one of her trademark leotards and fishnet tights, which she wears with a snapback cap.

Her girl still dutifully trundles along behind her, still carrying the prop that almost totally obscures her, while some of her mom's dancers look on.

Seeing eye to eye: In one still, the 34-year-old can be seen crouching and beaming proudly, and although you can't see what she's looking at, from the look on her face it's not hard to tell who it is

During her spectacular show, she flaunted her amazing figure in a series of increasingly sexy outfits.

She also defended - as if she had to - her toned and lean body against online criticism, declaring that she wasn't 'the kind of chick that just tries to be pretty and be taken care of by someone else. That's why I think it's hilarious if my body looks masculine or something like that.

'Listen, just because my body was developed for a purpose other than (sleeping with) millionaires doesn't mean it's masculine.

'There's not a single muscle on my body that isn't for a purpose, because I'm not a do-nothing (chick).'

Other performers on the night included Modest Mouse, Nick Jonas, Nicki Minaj and her boyfriend Meek Mill.

Rock a pair of over-the-knee boots like Beyonce

Beyonce's stage boots

The thigh's the limit!

Whether she's running around town with baby Blue Ivy in her arms, or boarding a super yacht on holiday, Beyonce usually always wears heels of some variety. Remember those sky high ankle boots she wore on a boat while carrying Blue Ivy? That's some skill.

And on stage, Beyonce likes to channel her sexy alter ego, Sasha Fierce, with bodysuits and boots, and here, at this birthday performance, she totally rocks these red over-the-knee boots, later changing into a black pair.

So granted, they aren't the most conventional, practical boots to be wearing for us 'normal' folk, but there are lots of knee high alternatives that you could definitely team with dresses, jeans and skirts.

From patent to suede, we've found alternatives for everyone below. It's time to channel Sasha Fierce yourself!
