The mother-of-one sported a brunette bobbed wig as she got into character and sat herself down opposite her co-star.

While Danes looked casual in jeans, boots and a T-shirt, Otto was all business in a dark skirt suit and nude heels.

Her strawberry blonde locks were perfectly coiffed in soft waves around her shoulders.

The Lord of The Rings star plays the CIA's current Berlin Chief of Station, working directly under Carrie's mentor Saul Berenson (Mandy Patinkin).

Hinting that it was chilly on set, Danes clutched a hot water bottle in-between scenes as she had her make-up touched up.

Carrie has estranged herself from the CIA and is now working for a private security firm in Berlin.

She will also gain a new love interest in the form of German actor Alexander Fehling after having exiled herself to the German city.

Fehling, best known for his role in Quentin Tarantino's Inglorious Basterds, plays Jonas Happich, a lawyer dating the troubled CIA agent.

Danes has won two Emmys and two Golden Globes since taking up the role in 2011.

Fans will have to wait until October 4 for new episodes of the series - airing Sundays at 9pm on Showtime.
