'So proud of you': Caitlyn Jenner praises eldest son Burt in heart-warming snap celebrating his 37th birthday

They may have had their problems in the past, but it seems Caitlyn Jenner is trying to make amends with her oldest children.

And on Sunday the 65-year-old shared a sweet photograph with her eldest son Burt Jenner, as she celebrated his 37th birthday.

She praised him in the caption, writing: 'Burt, so glad to see you so happy. So proud of you, happy birthday.'

Burt sported a fitted black T-shirt and had a pair of black sunglasses resting on his head in the picture, which saw him leaning in as he smiled while posing beside Caitlyn.

The reality star donned a form-fitting black sweater, coupled with a pair of light wash jeans and a black leather belt.

The reality star wore her long, brunette tresses styled straight in the snap, in which she also posed beside Burt's girlfriend, Valerie Pitalo.

Valerie donned a low-plunging grey T-shirt and fitted black trousers, as she sported her blonde locks pulled back into a bun.

The happy family photo suggests the pair are making strides following harsh comments made by Burt in Caitlyn's July Vanity Fair issue.

The self-made man - who owns a dog sitting business - discussed his strained relationship with his father, and how it helped him to become the man he is today.

'At the end of the day there's no way I can get around it. I am ungodly thankful and I feel very fortunate to not have had my father in my life…,' he said, in the cover story.

Burt continued: 'I learned how to open doors and shake hands and look people in the eye. Things that my dad never would have taught me.'

Father's Day: Burt did say that he had 'high hopes that Caitlyn is a better person than Bruce. I'm very much looking forward to that,' which seems to be the case as he happily celebrated Father's Day with her this year

Make like Caitlyn in a shirt dress by Frame Denim

Caitlyn Jenner is going shopping for a whole new wardrobe. And whilst she's got a lot of catching up to do if she wants as many clothes as Kris, Kourtney, Kim, Khloe, Kendall and Kylie, one of the family's favorite labels seems like a good place to start.

She posed for a group photo wearing an off-white shirt dress, which is by Frame Denim. Rarely a day goes by without one of the Kardashian/Jenner clan being spotted in the brand’s distressed skinny jeans, but did you know there's so much more to Frame than just jeans?

However, the I Am Cait star seemed to have no ill will towards her son, as she admitted that she understood his feelings.

'I have made a lot of mistakes raising the four Jenner kids. I had times not only dealing with my own issues but exes. [It was] very traumatic and there was a lot of turmoil in my life, and I wasn't as close to my kids as I should have been,' she said.

Burt did later share that he would be willing to work on his relationship, commenting: 'I have high hopes that Caitlyn is a better person than Bruce. I'm very much looking forward to that.'

Supportive: The pair seem to be working through their struggles, as Burt was spotted smiling as he supported Caitlyn this past July as she received the Arthur Ashe Courage Award at the ESPYs

And it seems the two have reconciled, as prior to Burt's birthday, he was spotted celebrating Father's Day with Caitlyn, and was also in attendance when she was honored with the Arthur Ashe Courage Award at the ESPYs in July.

He could be seen smiling as he posed alongside Caitlyn's other children - step-daughters Khloe, Kim, and Kourtney Kardashian, Kendall and Kylie Jenner (with third with Kris Jenner), Casey Jenner (with first wife Chrystie), and Brandon and Brody Jenner (wife second wife Linda Thompson)  - and their partners.
