Kate Hudson was feeling patriotic on Tuesday night, it seemed, as she stepped out wearing her stars in New York City.

The actress doubled her denim for a low-key outing in the city, showing off her legs as she stepped out of her car in very short shorts.

Gym bunny Kate, 36, shared a hint of her tanned tummy with her shorts rolled down at the middle to make them higher on the thigh.

The blonde was sampling something of a relaxed festival vibe and wore tribal-inspired sandals on her feet with tassels brushing in the wind from her hippie shoulder bag.

She was sure to keep her shades close, tucked in at the neck of her shirt, despite it being an early evening outing for the Hollywood star.

Kate's tresses were short and choppy, while her make-up was dewy and natural with just a little liner under the eyes.
