Meeting her entourage! Bindi Irwin introduces Dancing With The Stars partner Derek Hough to her reptilian friends... but he doesn't seem very impressed

She's practically grown up at the zoo as a Wildlife Warrior and the daughter of Crocodile Hunter Steve Irwin.

So it was only fitting that in being introduced to Bindi Irwin, her new Dancing With The Stars partner Derek Hough should also meet the furry friends in her life.

The 18-year-old animal enthusiast invited the professional to cuddle a baby alligator and a giant snake before beginning their training together - but it didn't go down to well.

Flinching at the sight of the reptiles, Derek, 30, looks incredibly uncomfortable in a brief clip promoting the program ahead of its premiere next week.

'This is Emmett the alligator,' Bindi announces in reference to the creature cradled in her arms as he arrives at a Los Angeles wildlife area, before she asks: 'Do you want to pat him?'

Looking taken aback, he stumbles: 'Sorry what?'

It only goes from bad to worse however, when she later wraps a long snake around both of their necks.

'I feel like if I don't look at him he's not gonna bite my face,' he says tentatively while the teen directs the beast's head out from behind Derek's ear.

Opening up about the experience, Bindi, who also gave him a tarantula to hold, told Access Hollywood: 'If he can wrangle snakes, then maybe I can take on the ballroom floor.'

'He was so lovely,' Bindi gushed, adding, that even if Derek hadn't been around wildlife like that before, he was 'so brave' and 'super patient.'

Derek took to his Instagram account following the meeting to also share kind words about his new dance partner.

He posted a sweet black and white photo alongside Bindi, from their visit at the wildlife area, along with a heartfelt message.

'Meet my new amazing partner @bindisueirwin. This girls energy and lust for life is incredible. Her passion for wildlife is second to none,' he wrote.

Derek continued: 'She's on a mission to make a difference on our planet and now it's my job to turn this Wildlife Warrior into a dancer. Let's go BINDI!!! #DWTS #dwtsallaccess #teamname?'
