Michelle Dockery is unrecognisable as she sports a fake baby bump, scraped-back hair and Ugg boots on London set of The Sense of an Ending

She's best known for playing Lady Mary in Downton Abbey.

And with the sixth final series of the much-loved ITV period drama hitting screens later this month, Michelle Dockery has wasted no time in landing herself her next big role.

The talented 33-year-old actress looked unrecognisable as she was pictured on a London film set on Tuesday.

Michelle's character, on whom there is little information, was a stark contrast to Lady Mary as she sported a fake baby bump.

The prop tum protruded out from underneath her maternity-style denim smock as she got to work the on upcoming big-screen adaptation of The Sense Of An Ending, the Man Booker prize-winning bestseller by Julian Barnes.

She teamed her character's relatively dowdy shirt-style top with a simple pair of leggings and Ugg boots, and covered up with a black leather jacket.

Her brunette locks were swept back into a tidy bun on the top of her head and her make-up was far more pared back than it is when she's in full-retro mode on Downton Abbey.

Michelle was recently revealed to have landed a role in the star-studded film, which is hotly-anticipated thanks to the stellar team behind it.

The screenplay was penned by playwright Nick Payne, adapted from the 2011 Barnes novel, and it's being directed by the little-known but BAFTA nominated (for The Lunchbox) Indian film-maker Ritesh Batra.

But it's the big-name stars - as well as Michelle - that are hoping to make this film a success, with the esteemed likes of Jim Broadbent, Charlotte Rampling and Emily Mortimer having been announced.

The dramatic film will tell the story of Tony Webster (Broadbent) - a reclusive man who is divorced and lives alone - as he discovers a long-lost mysterious legacy that makes him question his life and lack of ambition.

Meanwhile, Michelle has been busy working on the big finale of period drama Downton Abbey and also celebrating after filming wrapped recently.

The final series of Julian Fellowes' hit programme is set to hit TV screens in the UK this autumn, and will end with a Christmas episode.

Winning a plethora of awards including a BAFTA, three Golden Globes and three National Television Awards, the show has been screened in more than 100 countries globally.
