Matt Damon returns to the series after the focus had shifted from him to Renner's Aaron Cross for the fourth part.

Last week it emerged that Vincent Cassel has been cast as the villain in the new film.

The Man From U.N.C.L.E.'s Alicia Vikander and Tommy Lee Jones are also on board in as yet unknown roles, while Julia Stiles returns to once again play Nicky Parsons.

Paul Greengrass, who directed Supremacy and Ultimatum, also returns once again to direct, and this time will have screenplay writing duties for the first time too.

If the film title once again follows the book series, it will be named The Bourne Betrayal. It is scheduled to hit theatres on July 29 next year.

The Jason Bourne character was created by American author Robert Lidlum who wrote the first three novels in the series.

When he died in 2001, Eric Van Lustbader continued his series, writing nine more, and currently working on the tenth.
