Richard E. Grant is the latest Brit talent to head to Westeros as he joins the cast of Game Of Thrones in mystery role

It's already full to the brim with talent from British shores, but Westeros is about to welcome another starry arrival.

Variety have confirmed that Richard E. Grant has been cast in the sixth series of Game Of Thrones, in as-yet undisclosed role.

While neither the HBO hit show or the actor himself have spoken out on the casting, the news was revealed when Richard's talent agency added (then quickly removed) the show on his online CV.

After spotting the addition, Variety report that they've since confirmed the casting, but there is no news yet on which role the acclaimed actor will play.

The now removed listing on Richard's resume included the note 'various' under the director's column for the show, suggesting he will appear in multiple episodes.

The Withnail and I star is just the latest British actor to join the hugely popular series based on George R. R. Martin's books.

In fact, he is now the third Downton Abbey star to make the jump to the equally successful series, following Rose Leslie, who played Ygritte in GoT and maid Gwen in Downton and Iain Glen who has held the roles of Ser Jorah Mormont and Sir Richard Carlisle in the two series.

The sixth season of Game Of Thrones has a number of new additions to the cast for the new run of episodes which will air next Spring.

It was announced last week that UnREAL actor Freddie Stroma will appear as Dickon Tarly, the brother of John Bradley's character Samwell.

Danish actor Pilou Asbaek will also join the show as Euron Greyjoy, and screen legend Max von Sydow will take over the role of Three-Eyed Raven.

Game of Thrones, which was recently nominated for 24 Emmys, is currently in production and is tipped to return for 10 episodes next year.

HBO recently confirmed plans to take the show to at least eight seasons.
