'I never take off a heel': Jessica Simpson reveals to Jimmy Fallon she jet skis in stilettos on The Tonight Show

It would take something truly monumental for Jimmy Fallon to snatch attention away from Stephen Colbert's Late Show debut on Tuesday.

But the desperate funnyman's prayers were surely answered when Jessica Simpson dramatically announced she likes to jet ski while wearing stilettos on The Tonight Show on Tuesday.

The blonde dropped her bombshell as she talked about how she is so obsessed with her appearance that she never takes off her high-heeled shoes.

'I never take off a heel,' Jessica admitted, insisting: 'I get more grip with 'em!'

Jessica, who turned her love of fashion into a multi-million dollar business empire, had the host in stitches as she made her important declaration in front of millions of viewers.

She even provided evidence,  a family photo of her clearly showing her wearing high heels along with a bikini and life-jacket while jet skiing with husband Eric Johnson.

The star, looking stunning in black trousers and a lacy black blouse, then admitted that daughter Maxwell is taking after her with her love of fashion - including heels.

Bragging that the youngster is 'so fearless' and already taking riding lessons, Jessica seemed far more interested in just how well dressed her daughter was in yet another family photo she held up.

'I mean, doesn't it look like a Ralph Lauren ad?' she bragged of the photo, quickly clarify it and saying: 'I should say a Jessica Simpson Collection ad!'

She then sounded even prouder as she added: 'She's wearing her first heels, which is very impressive. She's like, 'Like Mama!'.'

But she insisted that does not extend to riding, telling Fallon: 'I won't get on a horse - it's like a huge fear. I'm from Texas, everyone thinks I ride a horse - but I don't.'

Jessica boasted of how her daughter is 'completely fearless' and 'just wants to go faster and faster and faster' on horseback.

But the actress, who previously faced a backlash after posting photographs of her husband flinging their daughter scarily high into the air, appears to have been willing to overlook potential safety concerns here, too.

After bragging of the riding lessons, she cringed as she admitted: 'I don't even know if that's legal for a three year old.'

Jessica admitted that falling pregnant to son Ace, two, so 'quick and sudden' after Maxwell's birth was 'very shocking'.

And when Jimmy, himself a parent of two young children, asked what he has to look forward to, she told him: 'Pooping in the grass and not a diaper. Just popping a squat.'

'Me or the baby,' Fallon quipped, cracking up his guest as he added: 'I don't drink anymore - that's the old me.'

Recalling that her very first time in New York was aged 13 when she sang religious songs on the subway with her dad, who was also her church youth minister, she laughed: 'We were full on passing out tracts, just saving the world - saving the world in our fluorescent shirts.'

After Jimmy held up photographs of billboards now covering Times Square to promote her fashion line, she added: 'And now we're saving people's lives through fashion!'

But the actress, who said her 'big vision right now is to start opening stores all around the world', stressed: 'Just being here in New York and having the billboards in Times Square - it's the most humbling experience of my life, I just feel so blessed.'

She also let on to a more recent buzz - meeting Fallon's other top guest backstage.

'Thank you for having Richard Gere here - he just kissed me in the hallway! It's pretty amazing,' she said.

Pretending to be dejected, Jimmy told her: 'I just hugged and kissed you as well - no big deal, yeah.'

Gere, who Fallon called the 'definition of a movie star', came out pretending to be about to start boxing the talk show host after dancing to house band The Roots.

'I wanted to be in the band,' the actor admitted. 'I became an actor, but I wanted to be in the band!'

The star, who has a massive guitar collection, then asked his host about his own guitar playing leading Fallon to hold up his bandaged finger and joke: 'Yeah, well not really as much anymore.'

When the movie star quizzed him about what had happened, Fallon quipped: 'If you watched the show you would know.'

The canny chat show host also addressed the elephant in the room, almost going as far as to admit he would rather be watching Stephen Colbert's debut himself.

He said: 'Unfortunately it’s on a different network at the same time as my show is on … so I can’t watch, I apologize. But I wish him all the luck in the world. Congratulations guys.'
