She has just completed her first turn behind the camera.

But on Wednesday Natalie Portman took to the red carpet to be honoured for what she had achieved in front of it at the Toronto International Film Festival. 

The brunette looked stunning in a beautiful pale lilac dress with a delicate floral pattern on it.

Her caramel coloured locks pulled back off of her face, she posed elegantly at the charity event where she was going to also be discussing her film career.

Natalie, 34, looked ethereal in her ensemble, with her stunning frock featuring bell sleeves and the bodice overlaid with metal and diamond vest design.

She finished her look with a pair of delicate strappy high helled and a chunky white box clutch.

The first annual TIFF Soiree featured an on-stage conversation, with the star, as well as a cocktail party and musical performances.

The funds raised by the event were set to support programming, exhibitions, workshops and educational initiatives for youth and aspiring filmmakers.

It is the stars second appearance in recent weeks - the Hollywood star took to the red carpet in Jerusalem to unveil her new film A Tale Of Love And Darkness, for which she played a starring role and a director.

There she met former Israeli President Shimon Peres. 

Natalie, who stars as Fania Oz in the film, has been working on getting the project made for over seven years. 

The actress even went to the extent of learning Hebrew for the role, having previously set out to hire an Israeli actress in the part. 

A Tale Of Love And Darkness is a drama based on the memoir of Amos Oz, a writer, journalist, and advocate of a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

She had to overcome plenty of obstacles to get the film made, telling The Independent recently: 'Amos is an extremely kind, warm human being and so he didn’t make me feel like I was on trial. 

'I really had to show him my passion and commitment to the material and all he asked was that I don’t make any sort of simplified explanations.'
