From wedding joy to disaster! Maxine wears stunning lace gown as she and Karstan say 'I do'... just hours before devastating loss in The Block: Glasshouse finale

They have been living in their overalls for weeks but on Sunday fans of The Block: Glasshouse got to see Karstan and Maxine spruced to the nines for their TV wedding.

The handsome pair exchanged their vows in front of their relatives, friends and new extended Block family with show host Scott Cam acting as master of ceremonies - before suffering a devastating loss in the final auction, taking home just $40,000. 

Stunning bride Max, 25, looked radiant in an ivory Jane Hill designer gown.

Skimming her toned and tanned figure in all of the right places, she opted for a skintight, backless number that kicked out at the bottom.

Karstan, 27, didn't disappoint either. He was suited and booted in a dark grey and black trimmed tuxedo with a crisp white ruffled shirt.

When Scott told them to hold each other's hands, Max jokes: 'Oh, they are very dirty!'

'I thought you would have scrubbed up a little bit,' she laughed.

'We have been together for so long, I can barely remember a life without you,' she lovingly tells him in her vows.

After they say their 'I dos', they gush to the camera about how happy they are to be married.

'I have a wife,' said Karstan. 'I have a husband!' exclaimed Max.

The couple, whose marriage plans were shelved when they won a spot on the Channel Nine show, said 'I do' in front of a scenic blue ocean scene in Melbourne.

As Scott announced them man and wife, Karstan dipped her delight and planted a huge kiss on her lips. 

Viewers watched the pair race to complete their apartment before auction day whilst also cramming in plans for their big day.

Last week, Karstan visited Australian designer Arthur Galon to try on a tuxedo with paint-splashed hands, saying that after eight years together he was 'so ready to get married,' while Max penned her vows.

A week earlier, Max ditched her workman-like threads to try on a dazzling array of wedding dresses.

The couple told Daily Mail Australia recently they would host a second wedding in Newcastle on December 6.

At 25, Max says babies are on the back-burner with the couple's focus instead being turned to a lifestyle, travel and design blog set to launch soon. 

She had previously told Daily Mail Australia: 'We’re really looking forward to starting a family, and it will be before we’re 30. 

'But we’re not ready for kids just yet,' she said with a giggle.

Despite their poor showing on The Block, Karstan predicts a fruitful life together saying that when they launch their site The Discovery Tales, the blonde beauty will be run off her feet.

'After The Block, Maxine is going to be extremely successful,' Karstan chimed proudly. 'There’s a chance I can be a stay at home dad!'

He said prior to going on the hit renovation show, they had travelled the world together walking 900 kilometres from Spain to France before road-tripping round Australia in a 1971 Kombi van.
