Back on duty! Hilaria Baldwin patrols streets of New York with baby son Rafael following glam luncheon with husband Alec

Just hours earlier she had been the centre of attention as she showcased her curves at a chic style luncheon.

But there is little doubting Hilaria Baldwin was delighted to be back on mummy duty as she patrolled the streets of New York with her baby boy Rafael on Wednesday.

She seemed in high spirits indeed as she pounded the pavement while pushing her pride and joy around in an expensive looking buggy.

The svelte yoga instructor was looking fit and flexible in a blue Isabel Oliver slogan T-shirt, leggings and flip flops, though she was perhaps pining for her famously volatile other half as she went for her solo stroll.

Amazingly just hours earlier she had been outshining the likes of Camila Alves and Uma Thurman at the Couture Council Awards Benefit Luncheon, which honoured Manolo Blahnik.

But while the 31-year-old was turning heads, it was her boy who attracted the attention of a smitten passerby who insisted on cooing over the two-month-old cutie pie.

It seemed the busty fitness fanatic had left daughter Carmen, two, with a member of her crack team of childminders, which is made up a group of nannies and babysitters, though she is of course their main caregiver.

Turning heads: But for once it was not Hilaria who was the focus of attention as this kindly gentleman cooed over her baby

Brave Hilaria raised eyebrows last month when she took to Instagram to take on nasty social media detractors who had poked fun at the fact her husband publicly thanked the five women who help keep their family life running smoothly.

Ironically staunch liberal Alec had scoffed at the idea of starting a family with his much younger wife before she first became pregnant, saying: 'Have I thought about having more kids? Oh sure, that would be great, that would be heaven, that would be fantastic.

'As my friend said to me, when you have children, typically in a second marriage, when you're older and you get married again to a woman who would have children, you must always remember that you make sure the children attend a college where the commencement ceremonies are held in a facility with a wheelchair accessible ramp.'

Thankfully the man who is arguably the world's greatest actor changed his mind, and they now seem blissfully happy with their burgeoning family.

Hilaria is Alec's second wife. He was previously married to Kim Basinger, with whom he sired daughter Ireland, but they divorced in 2002.

Awkwardly the actor, who is worth an estimated $65 million, sang the praises of his first wife just two years ago, saying: '(Ireland's) mother is obviously one of the most beautiful women that ever lived, and even divorce doesn't muddy my view of that.'
