'I'm not pregnant!': Maria Menounos clears the air after appearing to cover a 'bump' with large bow at industry luncheon

Maria Menounos looked like she was hiding something when she wore a strategically placed bow over her stomach at the Variety lunch in Beverly Hills on Friday.

But on Wednesday the 36-year-old TV host cleared the air about speculation she could be pregnant with her first child.

'I'm not pregnant!' she bluntly told E! host Jason Kennedy.

'There was a lot of hoopla around my outfit, because apparently I strategically placed a bow on my dress to hide my baby bump,' she said.

She continued, 'I'm not gonna keep doing this, because at some point I'm going to be, so this is the only time I'm going to come out and say this, because people think I'm fueling the rumors because I was cold outside and covering myself up, they're like, "She's fueling the rumors!" I'm like, I'm not fueling anything, I was cold!'

Maria has been dating Kevin Undergaro since 1998 and recently explained that after all this time she is finally ready for children. 'I'm finally ready to have children,' she told E! News.

'For years I was terrified of having kids. I was afraid I'd love them so much, I'd stop working completely.

'That all changed after I took a seminar with [motivational speaker] Tony Robbins. It was an absolutely game-changing, life-altering experience,' she added.

'I had a profound, hysterical crying moment where I realised I was going to miss out on this enormous amount of love, all because of fear.'

Menounos previously opened up about her family's reaction when she first started dating Italian-American Undergaro, admitting they disowned her.

She said her boyfriend's nationality was a major problem for her strict father, who essentially cut ties with her when the relationship started.

'It wasn't an easy situation,' Menounos told AOL.

'He wasn't Greek so my dad was very upset, pretty much disowned me, took my education away... I was now pretty much homeless, no education, no degree, but I had Keven.'

Undergaro called the early days of their courtship 'Romeo and Juliet without ending in full tragedy'.

Menounos and Undergaro now live with her family, the trials and tribulations of which formed a major focus of her reality show Chasing Maria Menounos.

She said the show marked how far she has come, and still remembers her days living with Undergaro in a Boston basement, dreaming of making it in Hollywood.

'There was a lady that we were close to growing up,' Undergaro recalled.

'She was gracious enough to take us in and it was just an unfinished basement.'

Menounos added that it was in that basement, on a mattress on the floor surrounded by spiders, where her dreams of Tinseltown came alive listening to Howard Stern's radio show.

Determined to make her famous, Undergaro produced her resume tape and submitted it to a local news station.

So began Menounos's road to stardom moving to LA and later becoming a correspondent for Entertainment Tonight and Access Hollywood.

'My parents came out to visit,' Menounos said.

'My dad apologised to Keven which I think is such a sign of, I don't know.

'I don't know a lot of men that can actually say they're sorry... It's so hard to give the whole story but it was really tragic and really, really hard.
