Talk about overcooked! Controversial TV chef Paula Deen looks completely fried after exhausting DWTS practice session

She had just taken part in gruelling rehearsals for her turn in Dancing With The Stars.

So perhaps it is understandable self-styled Queen of Southern Cuisine Paula Deen was looking a little worn out as she headed to her car in  Hollywood on Wednesday.

The controversial celebrity chef was looking tired as she trundled back to her vehicle following her sweaty session with partner Louis Van Amstel.

The 68-year-old, who shed weight after learning she has diabetes, has said she hopes to lose even more flab while also making more friends on the show.

She was certainly look far svelter than in her glory days as an unhealthy food promoting TV chef in a monochrome top, leggings, slippers and baseball cap.

While the Paula's Best Dishes favourite seemed in need of a sit down, it did not stop her from signing a cookbook when she stumbled across an excited waitiing fan.

The cook is once again taking centre stage once more after her career was torpedoed a 2013 race row.

She drew fire in June that year after she was sued by an employee who alleged the celebrity chef had made racially derogatory remarks.

In her deposition for the suit - which was later dismissed - Paula was asked if she had ever used the N-word.

She did not deny it, instead noting that 'it's been a very long time.'

'That's just not a word that we use as time has gone on. Things have changed since the 60s in the South.'

Right after the DWTS announcement was made she insisted taking part in the competition was not an image-rehabilitation attempt.

'My reputation? I don't know what that'd do for my reputation, but I'm in it to win it,' she insisted.

It later emerged Paula had decided to get rid of 'everything white' in her kitchen after it was confirmed she had diabetes in 2009.

'At that point, I went home to my kitchen and I threw out everything that was white,' she said. 'White bread, white rice, white potatoes, white pasta. I did that for four months, y’all! Just four months and I lost 35 or 40 pounds.'

But now she feels it's safe to bring some of those items back.

'The thing that I’m really trying to focus on y'all is moderation, moderation, moderation. Eat a cookie, just don’t eat six of them,' she said.
