X Factor favourite Olly Murs wasn't always so lucky... he only won £10 on Deal Or No Deal

When Olly Murs auditioned for The X Factor earlier this year, judge Simon Cowell gave him the 'easiest yes I have ever given'.

But when the Essex singer appeared on game show Deal Or No Deal two years ago, he wasn't quite so lucky.

The 25-year-old former energy adviser was left red-faced when he only won £10 on the popular Channel 4 show.

Unlucky: Olly's face falls with disappointment after he is told he's only won £10

When he was called to the 'chair' by host Noel Edmonds in the December 2007 episode, Olly gave TV audiences a preview of his famous dance moves as he wiggled up to the front of the stage.

During his appearance on the show, Olly flashed his patterned boxers and flirted with fellow contestants.

At one nail-biting moment, he is offered 'deal or no deal' to £22,000, which he turns down - a decision he later comes to regret.

Big decision: Olly struggles to decide over the two boxes

When he is down to only five boxes - the highest being £10,000 with the remaining four significantly smaller amounts, he turned down the banker's offer of £1,000.

Finally, when down to two boxes of £10 and £1,000, he turned down the final offer of £750 before realising he had only won a tenner.

Perhaps foretelling the future, Noel told Olly: 'Every now and again we meet a special person on the show and you do not have failure written over you...

'It's been a real pleasure to meet you and I'm gonna miss you Olly.'

Gutted: Olly is embarrassed by his £10 win

Meanwhile, Olly has laughed off assumptions he is a ladies' man, insisting he is 'rubbish' when it comes to the opposite sex.

He told this week's Closer magazine: 'Getting female attention is always great, but I'm rubbish with the ladies.

'I'm not really that good with women. People want me to show off my chest, but there ain't no six-pack here.'

In recent weeks, Olly has been romantically linked to fellow Essex native Stacey Solomon.

Olly has been given 2/1 odds of winning this year's X Factor by bookmakers Ladbrokes.
