Not your typical cycling gear! Princess Mary manages to remain elegant while pedalling her twins around town on a cargo bike - wearing a skintight leather pencil skirt

  • Crown Princess Mary of Denmark was seen picking up her twin children from Kindergarten
  • The 43-year-old transported her young twins in a classic cargo bike
  • She put on a stylish display in a navy blouse and brown leather skirt
  • In August the Danish Royal was named the 'Most Stylish Royal' for the second year running

Leather is the outfit of choice for bikies, certainly - but not so much for cyclists.

Crown Princess Mary rebelled while doing the school run in Copenhagen this week, though, managing a near impossible feat of pedalling a pushbike while wearing a skintight leather skirt.

The always elegant royal remained unflustered by her binding ensemble as she transported her twins Princess Josephine and Prince Vincent from kindergarten on a cargo bike.

The Australian-born fashion icon managed to look picture perfect as she made her way over the cobbles in front of Amalienborg Palace, with her adorable children directing her from their seats at the front of the bike.

The 43-year-old completed her stylish ensemble with leopard print flat and a pair of sunglasses, while her sleek and straight brunette locks blew in the wind as she rode along.

Princess Mary, who is an Australian treasure, was crowned the Most Stylish Royal for the second year running in August, thanks to the Tasmanian-born beauty's breath taking yet classic looks.

However, ever since she secured the title the stunning mother-of-four has been showcasing a number of strikingly daring sartorial choices.

The boho design was a departure from the classic looks she typically chooses – whether it be on the red carpet, during official tours or off duty with her young family.

Most beautiful of all was the wide, beaming grin the personable princess flashed as she entered the ceremony – the image of warmth and class.

She presented at the annual Danish auditor's awards for FSR (the Danish auditor trade association). The Borsen-based ceremony named the best Danish Corporate Sustainability Reporting.

Princess Mary's striking ensemble was a stark contrast to the all nude ensemble she chose when she was the gracious guest of honour at the annual ceremony in October last year - where she even accompanied her simple look with understated, matching nude shoes and clutch.

Last week, the 43-year-old cut an elegant figure at a charity event in an equally bold statement skirt.

The swath of fabric was emblazoned with a cluster of colour and pattern – standing out from the classic block colours and more understated glamour Princess Mary is known for.

Since her wedding 11 years ago in her unforgettable, timeless gown by Danish designer Uffe Frank, the princess has showed off her incredible taste – ranging from chic, modern, structured looks to the dreamy, traditional ball gowns.
